What is a Gobo?

A gobo is a patterned template which is placed in a focusing lantern to project an image onto a surface.

Gobos are similar to a projected slide but are designed to work at much higher temperatures as gobo projectors tend to use powerful light sources. The advantage of using a powerful lamp is that you can create a much brighter and more stunning projected effect.

To project a gobo you need to use a lantern that has a gobo holder as well as a lens system to allow you to focus the gobo image onto any given surface.
